Two of America's favorite foods were invented by the Menches Brothers in Akron,
Ohio. In 1885 at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, New York, concessionaires Frank
and Charles Menches ran out of pork for their famous sausage sandwich. They switched
to chopped beef and spiced it up with brown sugar, coffee, and a few other still-secret
ingredients. The Menches Burger was born!
The Ice Cream Cone was created at the 1904 World's Fair, You can taste both of these original
recipes only at Menches Brothers Restaurants, still family owned and operated at Canal Park
in Akron and The Shops of Green in Green, Ohio south of Akron.
